Fatal fail-to-stop crash in Waterloo

A woman struck in a fail-to-stop motor vehicle collision in Waterloo yesterday has died in hospital, as police urge for anyone with information on the incident to come forward. , NSW Police say

About 2.15pm (Thursday 6 September 2018), a 20-year-old woman was crossing Lachlan Street when she was struck by an eastbound vehicle, described as a white hatchback, believed to be a Kia Rio.

The woman was propelled into the westbound lanes with critical injuries.

The white hatchback failed to stop after the collision, and was last seen turning north into Gadigal Avenue.

The woman was taken to St Vincents Hospital where she later died.

Officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit attended the scene and have commenced inquiries.

Investigations suggest the car involved is likely to be a white 2017 or 2018 model Kia Rio hatchback.

Inquiries into the incident continue. Any witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam vision which could assist the investigation is urged to contact police immediately.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
