Fatal marine incident at Port Douglas

A 54-year-old man has died following a fatal marine incident near Double Island overnight.

At appoximately 10pm, June 11, police were called to reports that a boat was sinking off the coast of Port Douglas.

A search and rescue was launched by Cairns Water Police, with the Rescue 510 assisting with an aerial search.

At approximately 12.45am, June 12, police located an upturned vessel and rescued a 24-year-old man and a 26-year-old man from the water.

A 54-year-old Napranum man was recovered deceased.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
