Fatal Traffic Crash at Atkinsons Dam: Police Respond

The Forensic Crash Unit (FCU) is investigating a two-vehicle traffic crash that claimed the life of a 50-year-old woman at Atkinsons Dam this afternoon, May 20.

Initial information indicates around 1.10pm, a white Mazda and grey Nissan X-trail collided on Atkinsons Dam Road.

The driver of the Mazda, a 50-year-old woman died at the scene.

A 22-year-old man, a passenger in the Mazda, was treated at the scene before being transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.

A 26-year-old woman, a passenger in the Mazda was transported to Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a stable condition.

A five-month-old baby boy, who was a passenger in the Mazda, was also assessed at the scene by paramedics but was not physically injured and was transported to Ipswich Hospital as a precaution.

The driver of the Nissan, a 72-year-old woman was also treated at the scene before being transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant dashcam footage is urged to contact police.
