Today, Financial Consumer Agency of Canada Commissioner Shereen Benzvy Miller participated in a fireside chat with Ontario Securities Commission Chief Executive Officer Grant Vingoe at OSC's annual conference, Dialogue 2026: Competitive Edge in Toronto.
The two leaders offered forward-looking views on how coordinated oversight can support competition, protect consumers and investors, and foster trust and transparency across Canada's rapidly changing financial markets.
The Commissioner recognized that competition benefits consumers. She emphasized the importance of strong, consistent consumer protections and pointed out that competition works best when it operates within a clear consumer protection framework. The discussion highlighted that greater transparency is foundational to trust, competition and consumer empowerment. When consumers can clearly see, compare and understand fees and key product features, they can make better informed decisions.
Commissioner Benzvy Miller noted that consumers should not bear the burden of a complex regulatory system. She welcomed measures that enable Canadians to navigate the financial marketplace with clarity and confidence.
