Federation Council is pleased to announce the reappointment of Adrian Butler as General Manager for a further five-year term, effective March 1, 2026.
Following a formal resolution at the February Council meeting, the decision secures the organisation's executive leadership role through to 2031.
The General Manager serves as the vital link between the elected Council and the operational arm of the organisation. In this role, Mr Butler is responsible for the day-to-day management of Council operations, overseeing the delivery of the Community Strategic Plan, and managing a multi-million dollar budget and diverse workforce to provide essential services to the Federation region.
Mayor Cheryl Cook expressed the Council's support for the decision, citing a period of notable stability and growth under Mr Butler's management.
"This decision reflects Council's absolute confidence in Adrian's vision and his unwavering commitment to our organisation's success," Mayor Cook said.
"Over his tenure, we have seen significant progress. We are thrilled to ensure that his leadership will continue to guide Federation Council through the coming years as we tackle our future goals with passion and confidence. The reappointment also provides Council with the executive continuity required to deliver on long-term infrastructure projects and strategic community initiatives."
Mr Butler, who has led the Council through a transformative period for the region for the past 8 years, welcomed the opportunity to continue his work with the community and staff.
"I am honored by the confidence the Mayor and Councillors have placed in me to lead this great organisation for another five years," Mr Butler said.
"We have achieved a great deal together, but there is still much to be done. I look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff and the community to ensure Federation Council remains a vibrant, sustainable, and innovative place to live and work."
