Ferguson doesn't care about Dynnyrne residents

Infrastructure Minister Michael Ferguson doesn't care about Dynnyrne residents facing the demolition of their homes.

Labor Member for Clark Ella Haddad said that in response to a question in parliament today, Mr Ferguson not only failed to say how much the cruel fifth lane on the Southern Outlet would cost, but he also showed little remorse for residents.

"Infrastructure Minister Michael Ferguson has no idea how much a fifth lane will cost and he has no idea how devastating the impact will be on the residents of Dynnyrne," Ms Haddad said.

"Even on the Government's own modelling, the cruel fifth lane plan will only shave two to three minutes off commute times, it is not worth the cost to the tax payer and it is not worth the cost to families facing the reality of losing their homes."

Ms Haddad said this project was announced by the Liberals in 2018 and re-announced in the lead up to this year's election, with no community consultation.

"Mr Ferguson's cruel plan will not solve Hobart's traffic issues, it will just get cars to the Davey Street bottle neck sooner.

"How can the government pursue this project when they don't even know the cost?

"Why would they be plunging people into homelessness in the middle of a housing crisis"?

"The Liberals should put an end to this disaster of a policy and start making real change to fix Hobart's congestion issues."
