Festivale Statement

Sarah Courtney,Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is a proud and strong supporter of Festivale and will continue to work with organisers as they look at options for an event later in 2022, and a return to the traditional Festivale in 2023.

I acknowledge the decision to not proceed with Festivale in its usual format is disappointing, however I'm excited that the Committee is working with Events Tasmania on the possibility of delivering an event in Launceston later next year.

Festivale has earned a reputation as one of Tasmania's premier food, wine and entertainment festivals and is one of six iconic events to receive a new multi-year funding agreement through the 2021-22 Tasmanian Budget, securing its future for years to come.

I want to thank the Festivale Committee for their hard work to delivering outstanding events for Tasmanians and for their ongoing commitment to Tasmania's visitor economy and the community.

The Government will continue to support our important events sector as it continues to face challenges associated with COVID-19.
