This year the City of Swan is proud to celebrate 15 years of its popular annual Rural Revegetation Program.
If you live in the City of Swan and your property is 4,000 square meters or larger in size, you are eligible to claim a selection of free plants for a range of conditions and soil types.
We also invite City residents who have been affected by the Wooroloo bushfires to apply.
Orders for this year's allocation can be placed on the City's website from Friday, April 2, until 4pm sharp on Friday, April 30, 2021.
City of Swan Mayor Kevin Bailey said the program is being extended to people that have been affected by the recent bushfires to help bring their gardens back to life.
"Those that have been impacted by the bushfires can expect to receive a larger number of plants to support the incredible regeneration of our natural environment," he said.
"The purpose of the broader program is to build the City's tree canopy, conserve the land and protect our biodiversity.
"By planting more local native plants, we create shade, improve air quality, combat salinity and soil erosion and offer habitat and food for local wildlife."
Pearce Ward Councillor Cate McCullough said the City works with volunteer run organisation Trillion Trees to roll out the program every year.
"We are always very grateful to Trillion Trees for their excellent work in raising the seedlings and helping to distribute plants on the day," she said.
"With their assistance, we have distributed around 150,000 plants to City residents since 2006."
