It is estimated that 4000 people are currently living in the Territory, but haven't updated their Medicare details to reflect this – meaning the Territory is missing out on millions of dollars in GST revenue.
That's why Territory Labor Government has today launched the 'Are You Being Counted?' campaign which encourages Territorians to update their Medicare details.
The campaign will see three Territorians win $5000 each ($15,000 total in prize money), just for having their NT residency reflected on their Medicare.
The Federal Government relies on Medicare details to distribute GST revenue across each state and Territory – more GST revenue in the NT means more investment our police, teachers and nurses.
There are 4 ways to check and update your Medicare details:
• Through your myGov account
• Contact Medicare general enquiries on 132 011
• Via the Medicare Express Plus mobile app
• Visit the nearest Centrelink/Medicare office
The campaign will run until the end of May 2020.
