A record number of votes have been cast in the Eastside Business Awards and today the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters can reveal the finalists.
The 5th annual Awards attracted a record 10,974 votes, up from 9584 last year. This year, there was also new categories – Best Arts & Culture / Entertainment Experience and Best Professional Service.
"The Eastside Business Awards are a brilliant opportunity to recognise outstanding people and businesses who are excelling in our community," Mayor Bria.
"After more than two years of battling with Covid and the subsequent restrictions, it is so pleasing to learn that there was a record number of votes. There were 1390 votes more this year compared to last year and 4097 more votes cast compared to 2020.
"I would like to congratulate all the finalists and thank everyone who voted.
"At times like this, it's so important that we continue to support each other, and the Eastside Business Awards is the perfect platform in which to do this."
The Awards – which are a partnership between Solstice Media and City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters – celebrate an array of businesses and sectors from emerging creative industries, successful start-ups and family-owned enterprises to vibrant cafes and restaurants, iconic food manufacturers and retail precincts.
The Award categories include: Best Arts & Cultural / Entertainment Experience, Best Café / Restaurant, Best Coffee, Best Customer Experience, Best Fashion Retailer, Best Food / Beverage Manufacturer, Best Hair / Beauty Salon, Best Independent Small Business, Best Professional Service, Best Pub / Bar.
There is also the prestigious Hall of Fame Award for a business that has been operating in the area for more than 20 years.
Award winners receive $1,000 in digital advertising to be spent with Solstice Media and a choice of business advisory service) to the value of $1,000 with AFM Services, while voters can win a $300 voucher for a business of their choice in the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters.
The winners will be announced at an Awards Ceremony on 12 April and published in InDaily the following day.
