Firearm Seizure At Chidlow

Detectives from the Drug and Firearm Squad have charged two people with several firearm offences, following the search of a property in Chidlow.

About 6.20pm, Sunday 10 May 2026, police responded to reports of a fire at a residence on Heron Close. Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel initially attended the scene and, during a search of the property, located a quantity of firearm related items.

On Monday 11 May 2026, detectives from the Drug and Firearm Squad executed a search warrant at the property resulting in the seizure of a large quantity of firearms, parts and ammunition.

Two occupants were inside the residence at the time of the fire and were not injured. The cause of the fire is being treated as non-suspicious.

A 71-year-old man has been charged with:

• 1 x Unlawfully Possess Three or More Firearms

• 1 x Fail to store firearm in compliant storage

• 1 x Fail to store related thing (ammunition) in compliant storage

• 1 x Unlawfully possess a major firearm part

A 35-year-old woman has been charged with:

• 1 x Unlawfully possess a firearm

• 1 x Fail to store related thing (ammunition) in compliant storage

Both parties have been summonsed to appear before Midland Magistrates Court at a later date.
