The new pool will feature an 8-lane, 50m outdoor pool, 20 metre x 10 metre outdoor Learn to Swim pool as well as supporting amenities and infrastructure, providing the community with a modern facility for recreation, exercise and competition.
The former pool was permanently closed in 2019 after it was found to be polluting Kogarah Bay, leaving the community without this important facility.
Following strong community advocacy, the Minns Labor Government committed to working with the Federal Government and Georges River Council to deliver a new pool at the site.
The NSW Government, through the Office of Sport, is leading the project on behalf of Georges River Council, with artists impressions of the new pool designed by Principal Design Consultant Tanner Kibble Denton (TKD) Architects.
The next stage in the project will be a builder appointed, and construction commence in mid-2026.
The new Carss Park Pool is scheduled to open to the public in late 2027 once again giving the community a vibrant place to swim and train.
NSW Premier and Member for Kogarah Chris Minns said:
"When we were elected, I promised to return Carss Park Pool to the community and that's what we're delivering.
"The designs for the new pool look incredible and once completed, it will provide our entire community with one of the most modern and accessible swimming facilities in Sydney.
"With the selection of a builder just around the corner, this project has flown out of the blocks and I can't wait for Carss Park Pool to reopen to the public."
Minister for Sport Steve Kamper said:
"Carss Park Pool holds a special place in the hearts of our community, so it's incredibly exciting to share the first look at this fantastic new facility.
"This is about giving local families, swimmers and young people a modern, world-class pool where they can learn to swim, stay active and come together.
"The Minns Labor Government made a commitment to rebuild Carss Park Pool, and we're getting on with the job to deliver this for our community."
Mayor Elise Borg said:
"The rebuilding of Carss Park Pool is something our community is passionately in support of. The release of the designs marks an exciting stage for this project and brings us one step closer to returning this much-loved community hub to our residents."
