- New school will accommodate 620 students from kindergarten to year 6
- Features an endorsed education support program for children with diagnosed disabilities
The first school in the northern suburb of Eglinton has been officially opened today by Education Minister Sabine Winton, with capacity for 620 students from kindergarten to year 6.
The Cook Government invested $41.1 million towards Eglinton Beach Primary School to cater for the growing community along the coastal corridor from Alkimos to Yanchep, with significant enrolment growth expected in the future.
The architecturally designed school has an endorsed education support program for children with diagnosed disabilities.
It features two double storey teaching blocks with two inclusive education support classrooms in each.
In addition, there is a purpose-built education support block containing specialist facilities including sensory rooms, both high and low stimulus, a therapy room, a life skills room, and two further education support classrooms.
An extra classroom block includes a science classroom, an art room to support the school's specialist programs, and an assembly area adjoins a performing arts classroom.
Designed by TAG Architects and constructed by EMCO Building, the school also has an accessible playground that blends seamlessly with the early childhood area, allowing for inclusive play for all students.
The major education project forms part of the Cook Government's record $4.8 billion investment in new and improved school infrastructure across the State.
As stated by Education Minister Sabine Winton:
"It is a pleasure to officially open Eglinton's very first school as part of the Cook Government's commitment to building outstanding education facilities in our State's fastest-growing suburbs.
"As more young families move into the area, Eglinton Beach Primary School is set to deliver a high-quality learning environment for students now and into the future.
"I am thrilled that the school's strong vision for excellence, contemporary classrooms and dedicated facilities to support students with disabilities will serve and strengthen the community for generations to come."
As stated by Butler MLA Lorna Clarke:
"As a local Eglinton mum, I am proud to be part of a State Government that has delivered the first school in Eglinton, which marks an exciting future for families in the area.
"It was a privilege to be on the local school advisory committee with the school Principal last year. I think it's so important that families have access to the best possible education for their children.
"I know students will be able to thrive in these modern facilities in Eglinton."
