Fitness equipment open in Wallan

Mitchell Shire is now home to an accessible outdoor fitness station for casual community use.

The first of two stations were opened in Hadfield Park, Wallan, on Tuesday 24 September, with a second site to be constructed in Kilmore later this year.

The sites include a range of different equipment and is the product of a Mitchell Shire Youth Council initiative.

The outdoor fitness stations include a "wet-pour" soft fall rubber flooring surface at each site location, a concrete apron surround and vibrant, long-lasting fitness equipment to suit a broad range of users and athletic ability.

Community groups, sporting clubs, play space and reserve users can utilise the brand-new equipment to get fit at any time of the day.

The project was made possible through a Victorian Government grant. The State Government allocated $142,000 to the project through their Growing Suburbs Fund and a $25,000 contribution from the Wandong Wallan Lions Club and the Federal Government was provided as well.

Works at Hadfield Park, Kilmore, will begin later this year. Mitchell Shire Council and Aboriginal Victoria are currently working with Taungurung Clan to develop a Cultural Heritage Management Plan.
