Tomorrow marks five years of the Tasmanian JackJumpers.
Minister for Sport Nick Duigan said the club has achieved a lot in a short time.
"From ultimate glory with championship success in their second year, to securing a WNBL team, the JackJumpers are only getting started. It's clear they're ready to level up," Minister Duigan said.
"The JackJumpers' journey from newcomers to champions in only their second season showed the nation the strength of Tasmanian talent, resilience and pride.
"It also introduced the nation to another deadly Australian animal; the Jackjumper.
"Since joining the National Basketball League in 2019, the JackJumpers have become one of Tasmania's most recognisable and beloved sporting teams.
"The JJs have united our state under the banner of fierce determination, teamwork and community spirit.
"In just five short years, the JackJumpers have inspired Tasmanians of all ages to get active, participate in basketball, and dream big.
"The JJs have grown grassroots basketball, increasing participation across the state, and showcasing Tasmania as a home of elite sporting achievement.
"Our Government has supported the Jackjumpers from the beginning, and we remain committed to strengthening opportunities for Tasmanians in sport at every level.
"I can't wait to see the JJs success replicated when the Tasmania Devils take to the field.
"Importantly, both clubs will call Kingborough home, with their respective High Performance Centres to be located here.
"Great progress has been made on the $15m JJs HPC which is going to look fabulous and will become the heart of the JackJumpers' operations, serving as the home of the entire Club when construction is completed mid next year."
