In a strong show of support, more than 50 float applications have been received to take part in Darwin city's newest festive event - the Christmas Pageant.

This merry new initiative is led by the Northern Territory Government in partnership with City of Darwin.

Community groups, businesses and schools have all applied to take part, with float ideas ranging from dancing performances to custom built vehicles.

Launching the magic of the Christmas season in the heart of the city, the float parade will start at the corner of Peel Street and the Esplanade, then journey down the Esplanade and onto Knuckey Street. The pageant ends at Raintree Park.

The Pageant will mark the beginning of the Festive season in Darwin and will be followed by a fun-filled schedule of Christmas activities such as the Christmas tree lighting and performances across town.

The Christmas Pageant will begin at 5pm on Saturday 19 November. here
