ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC:

Minor flooding is continuing along the Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre. The river levels are likely to remain above the minor flood level during the remainder of Wednesday and into Thursday. Further rainfall is forecast over the catchment for the next few days and renewed river level rises are possible.

A Flood Watch is current for parts of the Top End, Barkly, Tanami and Sturt Creek Districts.

Katherine River Gorge Road:

Minor flooding is occurring along the Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre.

The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre peaked at 4.85 m around 7:30 am Monday, above the minor flood level (3.0 m).

The river is currently at 3.80 m and steady, with minor flooding. The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre is likely to remain above the minor flood level (3.00 m) during the remainder of Wednesday and into Thursday. Renewed rises are possible with forecast rain.

Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.Check the ABC and local media for updates.
