Flood affected kerbside collection service concluding

Greater Shepparton City Council is reminding residents that the flood affected kerbside collection service will conclude this Thursday 2 March 2023.

Council have been collecting flood affected waste from household kerbsides across the municipality during the clean-up from the October 2022 flood event. Now, four months on, Council will conclude this service as the community clean-up nears completion and residents continue to move through their recovery.

Residents who still have flood damaged household items to dispose of can do so free of charge before Thursday 2 March by registering online for kerbside collection, or by taking it to one of Council's Resource Recovery Centres in Shepparton, Ardmona and Murchison and showing proof of ID.

Council's Director Infrastructure, Gary Randhawa, thanked the community for their amazing clean-up efforts over the past few months.

"The clean-up task our region faced was extreme and required a lot of time, effort and community spirit. I would like to acknowledge and thank the community for helping each other through the clean-up and recovery phases following the flood event," he said.

"With Council now concluding their flood affected kerbside waste collection service, we urge people to continue to dispose of any rubbish or flood affected waste in the appropriate ways. Any dumping of rubbish is illegal and poses a health and safety risk to the community, as well as being unsightly."
