Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) has completed the upgrade of the Jimna Springs Road Floodway over Umbiram Creek at Southbrook, delivered through Betterment funding as part of the broader 2022 Flood Recovery Program.
Council's $11.8 million Betterment Program is part of the wider 2022 Flood Recovery Program and is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments through the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
TRC Construction and Maintenance (Infrastructure Services) portfolio spokesperson, Cr Carol Taylor, said the upgrade will enhance flood resilience while improving road access during rain events.
"TRC's Construction and Maintenance (South) team has delivered the Region's sixth Betterment project," Cr Taylor said.
"Betterment projects are designed to enhance Council's infrastructure by restoring assets to a more resilient standard.
"By upgrading the Jimna Springs Floodway we're building back better.
