Flying foxes move on from Bellbrook camp

Kempsey Shire Council

As the weather has warmed up, the flying foxes camped at Bellbrook have left the area for cooler retreats.

The good news is that Kempsey Shire Council has given Bellbrook Playground a thorough clean with disinfectant and families can now visit the playground without worrying about flying foxes in the area.

Earlier this year Council was made aware of the impacts flying foxes were having on the Bellbrook community.

As flying foxes are listed as a species vulnerable to extinction, Council could not interfere with the colony to move them on.

Council thanks the community particularly Bellbrook residents for their patience and understanding.
