Forbes: Heartland is home to innovation

While cities on the coasts are well known as being innovative, innovation districts in the central United States are showing a strong ability to attract resources, companies and technological infrastructure as well.

The Cincinnati Innovation District was one of the innovation districts in the heartland highlighted by Forbes.

The CID was created in March 2020 through a partnership among the state of Ohio, JobsOhio, the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center to accelerate the development of STEM talent, research and jobs inside the district.

"What is really important is we maintain and grow the talent base not just here in Cincinnati, but throughout the heartland," said David Adams, chief innovation officer at UC. "Given the pace of change, we are seeking to foster the adaptability of skills to the world's ever-changing technologies. An interdisciplinary research institute like the Digital Futures Complex we're building right here in the district will help drive this digital transformation."
