Former Mildura resident and award-winning intuitive, mixed media abstract artist Jacklyn Foster has chosen Mildura Arts Centre (MAC) to host her very first solo exhibition, which opens this month.
Vibrant is a collection of contemporary acrylic abstract paintings that draw inspiration from finding the joy and humour in life.
The exhibition opens at 6pm next Thursday 8 September and runs through until Sunday 23 October.
As part of the exhibition, Jacklyn will host two special sessions on Saturday 17 September – an artist talk at 11am followed by a Creative Canvas Workshop at 1pm. Her works of art will also be for sale.
Councillor for Arts, Culture and Heritage Helen Healy encouraged the community to experience the exhibition.
"Jacklyn's works of art are recognised for being full of positivity, brightness and energy and this is an opportunity for local art-lovers to take in and enjoy this exhibition," Cr Healy said.
While the aptly named Vibrant is Jacklyn's first solo exhibition, she is no stranger to having her works in the public realm.
She has worked on large-scale art projects including Me & Uoo Uoo for the Royal Children's Hospital's 150th anniversary, as well as the RSPCA's 150th anniversary Wombat in the Room piece, which has since been acquired by MAC. Jacklyn has also produced a mural as part of MAC's On the Wall program.
"I enjoy creating primarily abstract, bright and bold still life pieces, capturing moments in time that often get overlooked," she said.
In addition to creating her own works of art, Jacklyn, who is now a full-time artist based in Geelong, teaches intuitive art classes across Australia. She also mentors up-and-coming emerging artists, sharing the knowledge she had gained to help others.
