Former swim coach to face further 47 charges over historical sexual assaults

A former swimming instructor will be charged with 47 additional charges as part of ongoing investigations into allegations of historical sexual assaults at a swimming school in Sydney’s south-west.

In August, detectives from Bankstown Police Area Command commenced an investigation under Strike Force Colbran after receiving reports of child grooming and sexual abuse at a former swim school at Padstow.

Strike force investigators arrested and charged a 43-year-old man last week, who remains before the courts.

Following further inquiries, detectives will lay an additional 47 grooming, aggravated indecent assault and aggravated sexual assault offences against the 43-year-old man.

Police will allege in court that the man groomed and sexually abused a further nine boys on a number of occasions between 1997 and 2009, when the boys were aged between eight and 16.
