Fosterville Gold Mine To Apply To Vary Its Work Plan

The state's largest gold producer can now submit a series of work plan variations to Victoria's resources regulator, creating more jobs and economic benefits for the Bendigo region.

Minister for Planning Sonya Kilkenny has signed-off the Environment Effects Statement (EES) for Fosterville Gold Mine, allowing the mine to continue developing over the next decade.

The Minister's assessment found that potential impacts from mining can be acceptably managed through strong environmental management practices and mitigation measures.

Fosterville Gold Mine is expected to apply to the Earth Resources Regulator for permission to change its work plan to establish a new Tailings Storage Facility, along with an upgrade to vents at the mine.

The Earth Resources Regulator will ensure the work plan variations are consistent with all EES recommendations.
