Four arrested after large-scale clandestine 'ice' and MDMA laboratory located in Sydney's south west

Four men have been arrested and a large-scale clandestine laboratory in Sydney's south west is in the process of being dismantled following an investigation into the supply of prohibited drugs.

In August 2018, detectives from the State Crime Command's Drug and Firearms Squad established Strike Force Kiek to investigate the manufacture and supply of prohibited drugs across Sydney's south west.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives from the Drug and Firearms Squad's Chemical Operations Diversion Team, assisted by the Tactical Operations Unit and Dog Unit, executed a search warrant at a home at Chipping Norton, about 9pm yesterday (Thursday 24 January 2019).

On entering the home, detectives located a large-scale clandestine laboratory, which was in the process of manufacturing 'ice', and various chemicals and precursors used in the manufacture of 3,4-methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA).

Officers have located and will dismantle more than 700 items as they continue to forensically process the scene.

A 35-year-old man ran from the home and, following a short foot pursuit, was arrested by officers from the Dog Unit and Tactical Operations Unit.

He and a 48-year-old man, also arrested at the property, were taken to Liverpool Hospital, where they remain under police guard.

Detectives also arrested a 52-year-old man and a 48-year-old man at the home and they were taken to Liverpool Police Station.

Both men were charged with manufacture large commercial quantity of prohibited drug and refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Friday 25 January 2019).

Police will allege in court that both men were manufacturing methylamphetamine 'ice' and MDMA at the property.

Investigations under Strike Force Kiek continue.
