Four drink drivers caught in Kingston

Four drink drivers were caught in a random breath testing operation in Kingston last night.

Inspector Jim Semmens said Operation Safe Arrival officially starts tomorrow, but police are already enforcing the rules, with a traffic operation also taking place this morning in Cambridge.

"We caught four drink drivers from one traffic operation in Kingston last night," he said.

"It's a really disappointing result and it's not good enough."

"While we can wear Santa hats and spread some Christmas cheer, we won't tolerate drink and drug driving and we'll continue to enforce the rules."

"To those drivers last night who were doing the right thing, thank you for doing your bit to keep the community safe over the festive season."
