Police have charged a fourth person over an alleged break and enter in the state's west last year.
In January 2025, officers attached to the Rural Crime Prevention Team (RCPT) and Orana Mid-Western Police District established Strike Force Compartment to investigate break and enter offences in the Orana Mid-Western area in December 2024.
On Sunday 22 December 2024, a rural property on the Castlereagh Highway, Mendooran, was subject of a break, enter and steal. Among the items stolen were 13 firearms.
Police have charged three people – a man aged 31 and a woman aged 20 from Dubbo and a 29-year-old man from Mendooran – since they commenced the investigation.
They remain before the court.
Following further inquiries, about 1.30am today (Sunday 24 August 2025), officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District arrested a 40-year-old man at a home on Topaz Street, Dubbo.
He was taken to Dubbo Police Station where he was charged with aggravated enter dwelling in company intent to steal less than or equal to $60000, steal firearm or imitation firearm (12 counts), possess shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority, robbery armed with offensive weapon, and attempt dispose property-theft equal to serious indictable more than $5000.
He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 24 August 2025).
