The Silva Capital Cooplacurripa Biodiversity Project No. 2 has been registered under the Nature Repair Market scheme.
The latest project registered under the scheme is located at Cooplacurripa Station in north-east New South Wales. It aims to restore 1,230 hectares of land under the Replanting Native Forest and Woodland Ecosystems method. The project will use staggered plantings to restore native ecosystems, including rainforest, eucalyptus woodland and grassy forests.
This is the second Nature Repair Market project registered at Cooplacurripa Station. The project proponent, Silva Capital, intends to combine the project outcomes with carbon abatement activities under the Reforestation by Environmental or Mallee Plantings Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) Scheme method.
The Silva Capital Cooplacurripa Biodiversity Project No. 2 is an example of how stacking can help support project viability. It also demonstrates how landholders can pursue biodiversity and carbon outcomes while continuing to use land for agricultural production. Grazing is expected to resume at Cooplacurripa once plantings are established.
