Fraser Island - vegetation fire

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is aware of a vegetation fire burning on the southern end of Fraser Island. QFES crews are assisting Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) to monitor and patrol the area. There is no threat to property at this time, however smoke may affect residents in surrounding areas including Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Tiaro, townships along the Great Sandy Strait, Gympie and Noosa. Residents are asked to close windows and doors and if suffering from a respiratory condition, keep their medication close by. Motorists should drive with caution and to conditions. If residents are concerned their property is under threat, they are advised to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
