More than 300 companies have taken part in a free program to boost mental health in the workplace.
The Mentally Healthy Workplaces Program has been running for 12 months and helps small and medium-sized Victorian businesses identify and manage psychosocial risks, and reduce the risk of mental injuries.
The free initiative is delivered by AP Psychology & Consulting Services in partnership with the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Participants learn how to navigate issues such as workplace stress, burnout, bullying, poor workplace culture and work-related mental health claims, with the aim of building mentally healthy, high-performing workplaces.
The online program provides expert guidance and digital tools tailored to the needs of each business.
Chamber CEO Sally Curtain said fostering mentally healthy workplaces is high on the agenda of many successful businesses.
"This free online program has already helped hundreds of Victorian businesses improve their approach to mental health, which benefits the employee and the business overall," Ms Curtain said
Travellers Aid, which provides services that enable people with diverse needs access public transport and events, has participated in the program.
Operations Manager Maria Groner said it gave them the necessary tools and helped them identify where they could have the biggest impact with limited resources.
"I would absolutely recommend the program to anyone, if you don't know where to start it gives you a good starting point," Ms Groner said.
The program is aimed at businesses and industries identified as having high mental health risks, but is open to any small to medium sized business operating in Victoria.
