Free parking win for hospital staff

Health Services Union

The Health Services Union has hailed a decision by the NSW Government to provide free parking for hospital staff who are fronting up to work to battle the Delta variant of COVID-19.

HSU NSW Secretary, Gerard Hayes said the decision recognised the contribution of hospital workers across NSW.

"Giving hospital workers free parking is the only decent thing to do as we battle an unprecedented and dangerous outbreak of COVID-19," Mr Hayes said.

"It's not safe or practical to expect the hospital workforce to catch public transport, especially now that services have been cut back to a Sunday timetable.

"Hospital parking can cost some workers more than $1000 per year. These are people who are risking their own health to keep the rest of us safe.

"We commend the Health Minister for seeing sense on this issue."
