The Hills Shire Library Service, in partnership with NSW Public Libraries, has organised a series of FREE virtual author talks for Hills residents to enjoy throughout October and November.

Renowned authors such as Fiona McIntosh, David Hunt and Michael Connelly, as well as landscape architect and TV presenter Costa Georgiadis can be watched discussing their newest book from your device and in the comfort of your home.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne said she was happy Council was supporting such a great initiative that provided access to incredible writers and encouraged habitual reading.

"Our virtual author talks have been very popular with library members so we have decided to continue the series, post lockdown," Mayor Byrne said.

"While we can now gather in person, in a limited capacity, online events provide great flexibility and can be enjoyed from home," Mayor Byrne added.

Library members can also access a vast range of resources, including books, magazines and DVDs, from Hills Shire Library Branches, which are now open to the public.

Click & Collect will also continue at all branches. Members can request up to five items via the FREE Hills Shire Library App, which is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.

As a condition of entry into Council Libraries, and in line with the latest NSW Public Heath Order, people aged 16 and over are required to produce valid proof of their vaccination on entry and check in with a QR code.

Masks must also be worn inside for people aged 12 years and older.
