In this special issue, attention is drawn to the Nordic countries in the nineties, and especially to Norway and Sweden and their strategic shifts in positioning in the wider world to accommodate globalization and neoliberalization. Both countries experienced long-lasting debates on their relationships to Europe, reflecting a strategic shift in the position of small states under a rapidly shifting globalization.
The issue contains seven articles that explore these repositionings and is edited by Andreas Mørkved Hellenes, Haakon A. Ikonomou, Carl Marklund, and Ada Nissen.
