Council is inviting locals to be part of a new era of operations at the Aquatic Centre in the lead up to the handover to its new operators, Belgravia Leisure, on July 1.
The facility has been renamed to the Broken Hill City Aquatic Centre, and Belgravia will be providing all new state of the art gym equipment along with a suite of new learn to swim programs for families, including the GOswim swimming and water safety program, powered by Swimming Australia.
These will be complemented by accessible and inclusive programs over time, designed to support health, wellbeing and active lifestyles for all ages.
In addition, all fees will remain consistent, and new concession membership options to be introduced for students, seniors and pensioners, helping to ensure the facility remains accessible and affordable for the wider Broken Hill community.
Council's General Manager, Jay Nankivell, said it was an exciting time for the Aquatic Centre and its users.
"The Aquatic Centre was probably due for a bit of a refresh, and Belgravia are approaching the centre with a real enthusiasm to provide the best possible facilities and service for users," said Mr Nankivell.
"Belgravia actually requested that we close the centre for two days before they take over so they can get in and do a thorough deep clean of the pools, canteen, gym, and other areas, which we were happy to accommodate.
"This will also give them a chance to perform some other maintenance works so that the facility is in ideal condition for users on July 1."
CURRENT AND NEW MEMBER REGISTRATIONS
Please note that due to issues with membership data transition between the existing and new operators, all current members will need to rejoin ahead of the centre reopening under Belgravia Leisure management on 1st July. All users who re-join before July 31 will receive four weeks membership free.
"Every effort was made to try and ensure a seamless transfer of memberships and to roll existing memberships over to the new providers, but in the end it just wasn't achievable," said Mr Nankivell.
"Belgravia are doing all they can to make joining or re-joining as easy as possible however, and options are available for people to join up online or in-person."
