On October 24, 2026, Devin Paskimin, an inmate from Beaver Creek Institution, died while in our custody following injuries sustained during an altercation involving other inmates.
The Ontario Provincial Police and the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) are currently investigating. No staff members were injured during this incident.
At the time of death, the inmate was 45 years old and had been serving a life sentence since May 12, 2003.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, CSC will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
