AIS staff on both sides of the globe have been busy throughout January preparing athletes not only for the upcoming Milano Cortina Winter Games but for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games as well.
The AIS European Training Centre (ETC) in Italy will be the home away from home for the Australian Winter Olympic team ahead of and during the Games, with ETC staff holding a welcome party over the weekend.
Meanwhile, after spending all month in camp in Canberra, race walker Isaac Beacroft became one of the first athletes to be automatically nominated for the Commonwealth Games after winning the Australian Athletics 10000m Race Walking Championships at the AIS Track.

Beacroft has been part of a 17-strong race walking squad which has spent the last three weeks living and training at the AIS, something the World Junior Champion and World U20 Record Holder helps get the year off on the right note.
"You've got literally everything you need right at your fingertips like doctors, physios, recovery pools, the track just down the road and even the training paths. You can walk 10km in any direction and it's pretty good," Beacroft said.
"Overall, it's been a pretty good experience. A five-star hotel really."
