Tasmanians are seeing fuel prices drop right across the state, with the fuel excise halved from today.
Premier Jeremy Rockliff called on the Federal Government to take this action last week.
"This fuel relief will be welcome for commuters, families, freight operators and regional industries at a time when it's most needed," the Premier said.
"This is despite the appalling show that we've seen from the weak and directionless Labor Opposition, who refused on multiple occasions to support the call to slash the fuel excise, which has now delivered immediate relief for Tasmanians at the bowser.
"It's extremely disappointing that in such a crucial time, where bipartisanship is so important, we have an opposition that is choosing political games over supporting Tasmanian families and businesses.
"Tasmania needs strong leadership and support through these challenging times. That is exactly what we will continue to do."
Premier Rockliff also confirmed that the Tasmanian Government's position is that any GST windfall arising from the current global oil supply issues should be used to deliver hip-pocket relief for Tasmanians.
"The Tasmanian Government is already passing on important cost-of-living relief to Tasmanians, and we will continue to do so," the Premier said.
"Free public transport is already delivering, and we will continue to support Tasmanians every step of the way."
