Full Steam Ahead On New Temora Hospital Construction

NSW Nationals

With construction on the Temora Hospital Redevelopment progressing, Nationals Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke, has welcomed the opportunity to see how the project is taking shape.

Murrumbidgee Local Health District, hospital staff, project stakeholders and Temora Local Health Advisory Committee have gathered for a Construction Progress Celebration Afternoon Tea.

The event celebrated the completion of all eight concrete slab pours for the new eastern wing as well as other key milestones in the delivery of the $95 million Redevelopment.

Ms Cooke welcomed the opportunity to tour the work site alongside MLHD Chief Executive Emma Fields and Temora Shire Council Mayor Rick Firman.

"Standing on site, hard hats, boots and high-vis on, you really get a sense of just how much work is underway and what this new facility will mean for local patients, staff and families," Ms Cooke said.

"Locals can now clearly see the new hospital beginning to emerge, and there is a real sense of excitement growing about what this project will do to support the community into the future.

"The new Temora Hospital will provide vital and modern healthcare facilities that support patients, staff and visitors, while ensuring people can access more services closer to home."

Work on the redevelopment will be delivered in stages on the current hospital site, allowing health services to remain operational through the construction.

Once completed, the new hospital will include a new Emergency Department, a flexible inpatient unit, a purpose-built perioperative suite with operating theatre and procedure room, expanded allied health services, pathology collection services, improved parking and site access, and enhanced diagnostic imaging services.

Ms Cooke said work is continuing to progress on schedule, with the project remaining set for completion in 2028.

"With a further $28.5 million allocated in the 2026-27 NSW Budget to continue construction, we can look forward to seeing even more progress in the months ahead," she said.

Ms Cooke is grateful to staff, volunteers and the construction crews who are working on the project.

"Wendy Skidmore and the team at Temora Hospital are continuing to do such an outstanding job supporting the community while works are underway," Ms Cooke said.

"Thank you to Mayor Rick Firman, in his role as Chair of the Local Health Advisory Committee, and to the entire volunteer LHAC committee for their ongoing service. And of course Richard Crookes Constructions for their commitment to delivering this important build.

"They are no strangers when it comes to building hospitals in our electorate, having delivered the new Cowra Hospital, it was fantastic to see their team on the ground in Temora as this next major health project takes shape.

"I want to thank the community for its patience during construction and acknowledge the incredible work of hospital staff, who continue to provide outstanding care while this redevelopment is being delivered."
