MidCoast Council has been awarded $600,000 in grants from the NSW Environmental Protection Agency.
The funding will see an equal split of $300,000 go towards the Taree landfill remediation project which is currently at tender and the Tuncurry landfill remediation project with works now commenced on the site.
MidCoast Council's Director of Liveable Communities, Paul De Szell, said the works will reduce long term risks, protect surrounding waterways and ecosystems and ensure compliance with environmental protection licences.
"Council's Waste Services Department will continue to progress these projects as part of our commitment to delivering safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible waste management infrastructure for our community," he said.
