The Albanese Government is more than doubling funding for the Logan Medicare Mental Health Centre to provide expanded access to mental health care in the local community.
This is about making sure locals get access to dedicated mental health services where they need it and when they need it.
It means much more funding that will deliver more affordable healthcare for more people in our local community at no cost to patients.
The $10.9 million upgrade will double the service capability for the Logan Medicare Mental Health Centre, including 16 additional clinical and non‑clinical staff.
Since opening in late 2024, the Logan Medicare Mental Health Centre has provided 3000 free, walk in appointments. Once the upgrade is complete in mid‑2027, the centre will have capacity for 6000 appointments per year.
More patients will be able to access coordinated, tailored support from psychologists, GPs, social workers and counsellors in one place.
This investment is part of the Government's $267.3 million commitment to deliver 32 new or upgraded Medicare Mental Health Centres in the heart of local communities across Australia by 2029-30.
By mid‑2030, 92 Medicare Mental Health Centres will be operating across Australia. In Queensland, the Albanese Government is establishing 24 centres, with 17 already open, including in Ipswich, Redlands, Strathpine, Inner North Brisbane, Redcliffe and Caboolture.
Medicare Mental Health Centres provide free mental health care and support to anyone, without the need for an appointment or referral.
The Logan Medicare Mental Health Centre is fully funded by the Australian Government and services are provided by Footprints Community.
More funding for more Medicare mental health services is just one of many ways we're delivering for our local community in the Budget.
