Barossa Mayor Bim Lange has welcomed State Government funding of almost $255,000 to deliver a series of open space improvements at Stockwell Recreation Park.
The $509,958 Council project includes a BMX/pump track, shared use trails, landscaping, fitness stations and social amenities such as picnic settings, dog walking facilities, drink fountains and seating.
"This project will activate an under-utilised space, linking the recreation park with Stockwell's growing community," Mayor Lange said.
"Especially with the impacts of COVID-19, it gives people more reasons to engage with the surrounding open space and participate in community life.
"An extensive trail network, bmx/pump track, high quality fitness stations and picnic spaces will encourage people to get out and get active to improve their physical, social and mental wellbeing.
"This is another example of The Big Project delivering high-quality sports, community and events precincts, and we thank the State Government for sharing and supporting this vision."
The project is being jointly funded through the Planning and Development Fund Open Spaces funding program.
