Monash Council has secured $1m in funding from the Victorian Government towards a new library for Glen Waverley.
Monash Mayor, Cr Stuart James, thanked the Victorian Government for recognising the importance of this project to the growing community of Glen Waverley.
"Our Glen Waverley library is already bursting at the seams, and the population is expected to boom over the next 10 years as new housing is delivered around the Suburban Rail Loop.
"Libraries are more than places to borrow books, they're hubs for learning, community and connection. And our new Glen Waverley library will deliver more spaces for gathering, meetings, resources, and study
"This is a fantastic project for Glen Waverley, and I thank the Victorian Government for their support," said Cr James.
The new library will be part of a $100m+ civic precinct that includes new indoor and outdoor event and meeting spaces in the heart of Glen Waverley.
Timelines for the project will be shared in early 2026.
