Funds Secured for North Griffith Intersection Safety

Griffith City Council has secured $1,015,902 in funding under the Australian Government's Black Spot Program to deliver a new roundabout at the intersection of Noorilla and Boonah Streets.

The funding follows a history of crashes at the North Griffith intersection, which has been identified as a priority site for safety improvements. As an interim measure, Council previously installed stop signs on both Noorilla Street approaches to Boonah Street to help reduce risk for motorists.

Council's Chair of the Traffic Committee, Councillor Anne Napoli, welcomed the funding announcement and the opportunity to deliver a long-term solution.

"This location has been an ongoing issue for some time," Cr Napoli said.

"It is wonderful news that we will now be able to solve this problem thanks to this funding."

The construction of a roundabout is expected to significantly improve traffic flow and reduce the likelihood and severity of crashes at the intersection.

Work is currently in the planning stages, anticipated to commence later this year.
