Further Arrests During Operation Summer Safe

Far North Police are currently running Operation Summer Safe, which aims to reduce antisocial behaviour in public places and contribute to Port Augusta being a safe community to live, work and visit.

The operation commenced on 1 October and will run through until 30 April 2026.

In the seven-day period between Thursday 18 and Wednesday 24 December, local patrols arrested eight people and reported one person for offences within the Port Augusta CBD. In addition, seven expiations were issued for the possession or consumption of alcohol within the Port Augusta dry zone.

Results of the operation for the period 18 to 24 December include;

  • A 36-year-old Port Augusta woman was arrested for failing to comply with bail and disorderly or offensive behaviour.
  • A 36-year-old Port Augusta man was arrested for breach Intervention Order. He will attend Court in February 2026.
  • A 42-year-old Coober Pedy woman was arrested for failing to comply with bail. She was bailed to appear in court in January.
  • A 23-year-old Port Augusta man was arrested for a domestic abuse assault, breach of Intervention order and prohibited act with human biological material allegedly occurring on Commercial Road on 22 December. Police bail was refused and the man was remanded in custody to appear in court in February 2026.
  • A 60-year-old Port Augusta man was arrested for offensive language. He was bailed to appear in court at a later date.
  • A 27-year-old Port Augusta man was arrested for cause harm to another and state false details after reports of a domestic disturbance on Mackay Street. The man was remanded in custody.
  • A 43-year-old Port Augusta man was arrested for breach of intervention order, fail to comply with bail and hinder police. The man was remanded in custody to appear in court in January 2026.
  • A 42-year-old Port Augusta man was arrested for shop theft.
  • A 36-year-old Port Augusta woman was reported for possession of a controlled drug.
