A further two men have been charged as investigations under Strike Force Seasoned continue following an unauthorised protest in Sydney last month.
As part of ongoing inquiries and a public appeal for assistance, investigators attempted to stop a man on Mittiamo Street, Canley Heights, about 12.30pm yesterday (Thursday 12 August 2021) before he fled on a bicycle.
Police followed the man to Adams Park before he rode along Orphan School Creek towards the Cumberland Highway where he was arrested, with assistance from officers from Fairfield Police Area Command, South West Metropolitan Operations Support Group (OSG), and PolAir.
He was taken to Fairfield Police Station.
About 2pm, police executed a search warrant at a home on Mittiamo Street, Canley Heights, and located a NSW Police Force cap and other clothing items.
The 20-year-old man was charged with robbery in company, riot, and not comply with Noticed Direction – COVID19.
Police will allege in court that the man participated in the unauthorised protest in Sydney's CBD on Saturday 24 July 2021 and stole the cap of a senior constable.
The man was refused bail and appeared in Burwood Local Court today (Friday 13 August 2021), where he was formally refused bail to appear in Fairfield Local Court on Friday 8 October 2021.
A second man was also arrested in Sydney's inner city as part of Strike Force seasoned investigations today.
About 10:15am (Friday 13 August 2021), officers attached to Kings Cross Police Area Command arrested a 21-year-old man on Mitchell Street, Arncliffe.
He was taken to St George Police Station where he was charged with riot, two counts of throw missile at police at public disorder no actual bodily harm, and not comply with notice direction.
Police will allege in court the man also participated in the unauthorised protest, during which he threw mandarins at a Mounted Police officer.
The man was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Saturday 14 August).
