Further Charges Laid After Fatal Crash At Coffs Harbour

A man will face additional charges after a fatal crash in the state's north.

About 12.15am on Saturday 21 February 2026, emergency services were called to Minorie Drive, Toormina, following reports of a crash.

Officers attached to Coffs/Clarence Police District attended and found a sedan had crashed into an unoccupied truck.

The front passenger – an 18-year-old man – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, died at the scene.

The driver – a 27-year-old man – was treated for minor injuries, before being taken to hospital for mandatory testing and further assessment, under police guard.

A crime scene was established and investigations into the circumstances of the crash commenced with the assistance of specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.

Upon release from hospital, the 27-year-old man was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where he was charged with driving related offences. He remains before the court.

Yesterday (Sunday 10 May 2026), officers received mandatory blood testing results which returned an alcohol reading of 0.165.

Following inquiries, the 27-year-old was charged with aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death – PCA, dangerous driving occasioning death – drive under influence, and drive with high range PCA.

He will next appear before Coffs Harbour Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 12 May 2026).
