Further charges laid over sexual assault, NSW

A man will appear at court today charged with the alleged sexual assault and armed robbery of a woman in Sydney’s west last year, NSW Police say.

In June 2016, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Sex Crimes Squad established Strike Force Kochia to investigate the reported kidnapping, sexual assault, and robbery of a woman and a teenager in separate incidents.

On Saturday 25 June 2016, a 26-year-old man was arrested following a police pursuit at Bondi; he was later charged with numerous offences including aggravated sexual and indecent assault, kidnapping, armed robbery, and police pursuit.

Following further reports and investigations, strike force detectives later charged the man in relation to the alleged sexual or indecent assault of a further nine victims, which include a ten-year-old girl.

Strike Force Kochia detectives continued investigations following reports a 20-year-old woman was sexually assaulted and robbed by a man armed with a knife at Parramatta on Monday 27 May 2016.

As a result of their inquiries, the man was arrested at a correctional facility in Sydney’s west yesterday.

He was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault, robbery armed with offensive weapon, detain with intent to commit serious indictable offence, and indecent assault.

He has been refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today.
