Owners and occupiers whose homes were totally destroyed in the recent Wooroloo and Hills Bushfire will receive further payments from the Lord Mayor's Distress Relief Fund (the Fund).
Depending on the type of residence, further payments of between $20,000 and $80,000 will be sent to owners, owner / occupiers and occupiers whose place of residence and contents were totally destroyed in the catastrophic bushfire.
Further announcements for people who suffered some structural damage and loss of contents will be provided in the coming weeks.
Local Government authorities in the City of Swan and Shire of Mundaring are continuing to assess and review all applications.
Individuals choosing to rebuild will also able to access up to $2,000 to assist with additional costs associated with Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) approvals.
The Wooroloo and Hills Bushfire Appeal ended on 31 March with more than $16.4 million received in donations.
The latest announcement means that approximately 60 per cent of the funds will be distributed.
Presiding Chair Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said the generosity of West Australians had made it possible for people devastated by the bushfires to receive such rapid and substantial payments from the Fund.
"While I understand these payments cannot replace everything that people have lost, I hope that it has eased some of the financial burden for those who have been affected," he said.
"This Fund is unique in that every dollar the WA community has donated will go directly to the people and communities affected by this bushfire."
