Willoughby City Council is marking the Gai-mariagal Festival 2026 with a series of events recognising the living cultures, histories and continuing connection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to Country.
Now underway and running until 13 July, the festival brings together communities across Northern Sydney through a diverse program of events, performances, workshops and cultural experiences. The festival coincides with key national dates including National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week.
Council is committed to advancing reconciliation through its Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan 2024-2026 and supporting events such as the Gai-mariagal Festival is an important part of this ongoing work.
Mayor Tanya Taylor said the festival plays an important role in supporting reconciliation and cultural understanding across the community.
" The festival provides opportunities for people to learn from First Nations voices, deepen understanding and strengthen connections across our community," Mayor Taylor said.
