Game, set and match: Truganina gets new active open space

Six new tennis courts and a sporting pavilion are among the key features of a new active open space in Truganina, Alcock Road Reserve.

Work is also complete on new cricket nets, playgrounds, BBQ and picnic areas, landscaping and a car park as part of the next stage of the Truganina South-East Community Precinct Masterplan.

Wyndham City has also completed the construction of three soccer fields - which can also be used to create a cricket field - for Alcock Road Reserve, which will open to the public in early 2023 once the turf has been established.

Located at 73 Alcock Road, Truganina, the reserve sits adjacent to the newly-opened Koomail Tardy Community Centre, which provides kindergarten, maternal child health and a range of community programs, services and activities for Truganina residents.

Wyndham City Active City portfolio holder Councillor Peter Maynard said he was thrilled with the progress made on the project to date.

"Once complete, Alcock Road Reserve will provide Truganina families with access to sport and recreation facilities, meaning they can join a team, have a kick with friends, take their kids to the playground or go for a walk or run," Cr Maynard said.

"This reserve will be also able to host junior and senior levels of competition and training for local sporting associations, clubs and schools."

"As the Active City portfolio holder, I know how important it is for our residents to have these kinds of open spaces close to home - that's why Council is delivering this reserve at Truganina."
